Pre and Post-event Evacuation Support Services

Coach America is the largest provider of charter and tour bus services in the U.S. with an owned fleet of over 2,700 vehicles primarily located in the Southeastern, South Central and Western U.S. 

The Bus Evacuation Support Services (CA-BESS) division provides specialized bus evacuation operational planning, event management and logistical support utilizing intercity motorcoaches and CA’s extensive large-move experience and industry relationships.

Coach America has the current federal contract to provide nationwide bus evacuation services for all disaster events directly with FEMA.  During an event CA-BESS

• provides their own coaches and subcontracts with all other industry carriers for vehicles,
• deploys equipment and staff to staging areas and pick-up points,
• qualifies drivers and inspects vehicles on-site for the event,
• provides all dispatch communications, tracking and control services, and
• manages all support vendors and field staff.

CA-BESS provides coaches for purchase by appropriate governmental entities for evacuation events via a GSA contract.

  experience in large scale, time-constrained bus moves
• Executed vendor agreements and retainers for fuel, waste, staffing and other logistical services
• Extensively planned and tested evacuation event-specific processes and practices to support the rapid notification, activation, deployment and movement of large numbers of buses and carriers during critical execution timeframes
• Specially converted buses for moving mobility-challenged passengers
